The Celtic Harp

W.A.L.T: Explore how different cultures produce music
Last week we had a task of finding a music instrument and finding information about it and I chose the Celtic Harp. Something I enjoyed was exploring about the harp , something I did well was linking the music notes to you tube clips about the Celtic Harp and something I could do better next time would be to add more information.
Here are some links to the Celtic Harp being played: Link 1, link 2, link 3, link 4 Here is a website on how to make the Celtic Harp: Link

The Extraordinary Key

This week in writing we had the task of drawing a key and writing a story about what the key unlocks and this is mine. What I enjoyed was having the freedom of writing of what I want, something I did well was introducing the story and something I could do better next time would be to add some great language features so it can hook the reader in.

The Extraordinary Key

I was cleaning my bedroom yesterday before the dinner lady came in and I found a key, it reminded me of all the
adventures my two friends and I used to have. One in particular, this story went back a long time ago in 1942 when
I was about 12 years old.

It all started when I have an obsession with pigs I loved pigs so much that I have a pig myself. I was feeding my pig
when something strange started to glow in the corner of my eye behind all the green overgrown grass, it was a key
with sparkly and shimmery glitter all over it. When I picked it up strangely there was a force that started pulling me
I needed help so I called my two best friends they were sure to help me with this mystery.

In about ten minutes they were ready at my house, When I showed them the key they were astonished at what they
had seen, all they wanted to do were find where the key led us to. So we packed all our gear and away we were
on the hunt for something that the key unlocked. It took us all day and all night, it was sunrise when I suddenly
realised that there was a picture of a pig that was holding the two gates together I ran to the gate and the key was
pulling towards so we thought that this key must unlock this gate. When we looked through the gate I couldn’t
really see much except for a dark gloomy house that sat lop sided on a tiny hill. This just made me really excited
so I tried the key to see if it would unlock the gate and it worked! I slowly pushed the gate forward the creaking
noises that were coming from the rusty old gate gave me chills that ran up my spine.

I suggested in a whispering voice“ should we come back tomorrow and check this place out?” I was having
second thoughts about this place. But my friends replied with “ No we want to investigate this place it seems
interesting.” So off we went into the dark shadowy area. Being cautious of our surroundings, accepting that
things could happen at any time, wondering what things could be lurking around here and looking out of mysteries
that could be solved.

As the three of us stepped into the house they had a funny feeling that they had never felt before.
WOOF, MEOW, SQUAWK, HOOT, we heard all the noises from the house but outside there was no sounds
whatsoever, scary things started to happen like: flickering lights, slamming doors, we started to get worried we
didn’t know what to do. Out of the blue we heard “HELP HELP.” We thought we’d better help. we followed
the echo, we all gasped as we saw this old aged man tucked up in a ball down in a big hole crying
“ someone comfort me and get some help” “ are you okay help is one the way.” We helped him up and carried
him to the hospital. It was a very long walk for us to carry this man that we had never seen before.

We visited him in hospital once he was stable and asked him a few questions “How are you and what happened?”
He replied “ yeah i’m fine I fell in a big hole in my house.” All us girls looked at each other with disbelief
“What? Was that your house?” “Yeah i've been living there for years.” he answered. We asked him if we wanted
us to upgrade his house so it is more modern and suitable for him, He was very pleased with that. So we did, once
he was all better he moved back into his house The old man asked “is this my house?” “It is, do you like it?”We
responded. “Yes I love it so much thank you, I really appreciate it.” SO that was the story from 1942 and here I am
now in 2018 in an retirement village and I have never forgotten that story.
